My Story:

John was born and raised in a very close-knit family in South Korea . He converted to the Catholic faith when he was 24. He is now studying for the priesthood for the archdiocese of San Francisco . Both of his parents are deceased, but he has four siblings who, along with their spouses and children, are all practicing Catholics.

John graduated from Seoul National University with a B.A. and M.A., and received a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley. He was chair of the Korean program at Smith College before joining the archdiocese of San Francisco . He is a seminarian at Blessed John XXIII National Seminary in Weston , MA . He is currently spending his pastoral ministry year as a 3rd year theologian at St. Hilary Parish in Tiburon.

John loves reading and listening to baroque music, Gregorian chant, and medieval polyphony. His favorite quote is:

He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs." He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep." He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep. (John 21: 15-17)
